In Person with Purpose
If your organization is asking people to come into the office are you making it worth their while? Are you requiring them to put on hard pants and fight traffic or public transit to sit in a mostly-empty office on zoom calls? Do they have the same wall-to-wall meeting schedule that they have when working from home? But they’re just doing it in a way less comfortable and more inconvenient way?
or -
Do they have time to take advantage of co-location? Perhaps having meetings in open spaces to draw and map ideas and create? Are people who work together on the same in-office schedule? Do they synchronize calendars to allow for face to face collaboration? Do they have time for socialization? Both scheduled and unscheduled time to connect with others? Are there events planned DURING the work day that allow people to enjoy each other’s company (not after hours)? Are they doing things in the office that they could not do from home?
As we settle into this latest iteration of remote/hybrid/back to the office… please be intentional about what you’re asking your folks to do. There are pros and cons to each situation, and you can design solutions that make the most of the good, and minimize the bad. #hybridworking #workfromhome #culture #backtotheoffice
